LODI — The man who killed a retired couple in their Lodi-area home nearly four years ago was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, prosecutors said Monday.

Christopher Lee Holland, 57, of Lodi, was convicted in September of two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of James and Mary Reiswig, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said.

Holland was also convicted of two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of first-degree burglary.

Holland used a gun in the murders of the Reiswigs in their home on West Kingdon Road on December 16, 2020, authorities said. The Reiswigs' granddaughter found the couple dead the next day. Investigators quickly identified Holland as the suspect and he was arrested the same day around 10 miles away at a park.

In the days after Holland's arrests, investigators revealed he was a convicted felon who was out on parole at the time of the killings. Additionally, court records show the Reiswigs' son sued Holland two years prior for harassment.

The sheriff's office said the Reiswigs — 77 and 76 at the times of their deaths — were pillars of the local Portuguese community.
