Cooling Centers Open, Extend Hours Across Region During Heat Wave

With temperatures in the 90s, Washington County is opening six cooling centers.

The centers are located at the following places through Thursday, according to Peters Patch:

  • Burgesttstown Senior Center
    9a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Canonsburg Senior Center
    9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Center in the Woods
    7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monongahela Senior Center
    8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Riverside Place
    8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Washington Senior Center
    8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The City of Pittsburgh also has four cooling centers open in Greenfield, Homewood, Sheraden and the South Side. They are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

There are three other cooling centers in Allegheny County that are also extending their hours during the heat wave. They include:

  • Plum Senior Community Center: 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Catholic Youth/Stephen Foster: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Jewish Community Center: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
