Innamorato continues push for Allegheny County Council to pass proposed budget
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato is continuing to push to have her budget and property tax hike approved by county council.
Innamorato spoke in Blawnox on Tuesday alongside public safety officials, making the case that her plan would put desperately needed money in the hands of first responders.
"Together, these investments represent not just a budget proposal, but a vision for a stronger and safer Allegheny County," Innamorato said. "This budget reflects our commitment to safeguarding every single resident, every first responder, and every community, no matter the size or resources that they have."
Innamorato previously said a vote against the proposed 2.2 millage hike would impact critical care provided to the county's elderly.
Allegheny County Council has indicated that it will not pass the budget as proposed.
Council President Pat Catena is calling for a smaller tax hike. For Innamorato to get her 2.2 mill increase, 10 of the 15 council members have to agree and agree within the next few weeks when the vote will be taken.
Council must approve a budget by early December.
