Cancer Survivors Race Through Store "For The Cure"

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - The store was open for business when customers heard over the loud speaker that there was a race taking place. Six cancer survivors ran through the Kroger's store on Maple Avenue in pink shirts, with shopping carts, on a mission to help those who have not yet been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Kroger is donating a portion of the money it receives from about 300 items to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation. The goal is to raise more than $100,000 through purchases at Kroger stores all over North Texas.

The cancer survivors were asked to find six items in the store and return them to the front of the store.

Britainy Goss was the first one back and she selected Komen of North Texas as the affiliate that would receive the $1000 for the "Pink-Tag Relay."

"It warms my heart" says Goss. "It makes me feel like I'm able to do something to find a cure for breast cancer and to help those out there who don't know they have breast cancer."

The campaign officially starts at Kroger on Wednesday and lasts until October 6th.
