Josh Shapiro reacts to Biden "garbage" remark

In response to President Biden appearing to call former President Donald Trump's supporters "garbage" on Tuesday night, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said, "it's certainly not words that I would use." Jasmine Wright, politics reporter for NOTUS, and Shelby Talcott, politics reporter for Semafor, join "America Decides" with analysis. Presidential campaigns turn their focus to "garbage"

In the final week of the presidential race, the campaigns descended into something of a dumpster fire over "garbage" comments. Former President Donald Trump and his allies expressed outrage over President Biden appearing to call Trump supporters "garbage," and backlash continued against the comedian who called Puerto Rico an "island of garbage" at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally. CBS News' Nancy Cordes and Libby Cathey have the latest.

Fallout continues from Trump's MSG rally

Former President Donald Trump told supporters at a rally in Atlanta on Thursday, "I'm not a Nazi. I'm the opposite of a Nazi." The comment came after his former chief of staff, John Kelly, told the New York Times last week that Trump fits the definition of a fascist and occasionally remarked that Adolf Hitler "did some good things." CBS News campaign reporter Jake Rosen has more on that and the ongoing backlash to comments made at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally over the weekend.

Poll: Large gender gap between voters in 2024

New CBS News polling finds a 21-point gender gap in the presidential race, with Vice President Kamala Harris leading with women by 12 points while former President Donald Trump leading with men by 9 points. CBS News executive director of elections and surveys Anthony Salvanto has the details. Then, Margaret Talev, Kramer director for Syracuse University's Institute for Democracy, Journalism, and Citizenship, and Fin Gómez, CBS News political director, join with analysis.
