Mill Valley residents securing supplies as bomb cyclone set to hit North Bay

Mill Valley residents are preparing in advance for the storm that will hit the North Bay.

Marcus Bartholomew has seen his fair share of storm preps in his over 20 years working here at Goodman Building Supply in Mill Valley.

"We also carry shop vacs in case you need to get water out asap and we also have our wet patch, our roof stuff," said Bartholomew.

He said over the past few days they have seen a lot of people coming in to pick up supplies.

"It's kind of amazing. I'm surprised that we're getting more people coming in to prepare for it before it comes which is definitely a smart idea you know instead of waiting until later," said Bartholomew.

He said everything from tarps to rain boots to sealant is flying off the shelves.

This week's storm will be the first big one of the rainy season. In Mill Valley, he said homeowners have not just the rain and wind to worry about but also the high tides.

"We've got some pumps and sandbag dams in the plumbing department that you can use if you've got water coming in if it's a high tide because it's supposed to be also king tide too," said Bartholomew.

Marin County is also offering several sandbagging stations for people to stock up.

The Southern Marin Fire District is warning people to have sandbags on hand if they've experienced flooding during previous storms.

He said their store will remain open during the storm.

They are doing their best to prepare for whatever may come and expect to get another shipment of supplies later this week.

"Just have to wait and see and order as much as we can as far as the rain goes. That's about the only thing we can do," said Bartholomew.
