Dutch Fire forward progress stopped after prompting evacuations in Placer, Nevada counties
NEVADA COUNTY – A wildfire burning near the Nevada and Placer county line forced officials to issue mandatory evacuations in both counties on Saturday.
Cal Fire said the Dutch Fire was first reported at 3:32 a.m. in the Placer County community of Dutch Flat. As of Sunday morning, the fire had burned 45 acres and was 15% contained. Forward progress was stopped and Cal Fire said crews were working through the night to strengthen containment lines.
The cause of the fire was unknown at this point.
Nevada County evacuations
A mandatory evacuation in Nevada County was ordered for Lowell Hill from Dutch Flat Powerhouse to Mule Springs, the sheriff's office said. The surrounding area was under an evacuation warning, but that was lifted shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Placer County evacuations
In Placer County, the Culberson Road area of Dutch Flat was under an evacuation order until Sunday when it was downgraded to a warning. Then that warning was lifted late Sunday afternoon. A map showing Placer County evacuations can be found here.
The sheriff's office said it would patrol the evacuation zone throughout the night.
