Montco Attorney For Accused Dealers Caught in Phila. Rx Drug Sting

By Brad Segall

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A Montgomery County criminal defense attorney is behind bars in lieu of a quarter-million dollars' bail, charged with selling drugs to an undercover Philadelphia cop twice in the last month.

Prosecutors say Gregory Noonan didn't know he was calling a cell phone that belonged to an undercover cop.  They say the 53-year-old Lansdale man made arrangements to meet the officer at Noonan's law office in Norristown, where he allegedly sold nearly 400 oxycodone pills at $15 a pop.

Court records reveal the alleged buys took place outside the office, in Noonan's Jaguar.

Noonan recently represented Dr. Richard Ruth, who was found guilty of supplying oxycodone to drug-addicted residents of the North Penn (Montgomery County) area (see related story).

Prosecutors say Noonan is facing a mandatory minimum prison term of three years, based on the weight of the pills, and another two-year mandatory minimum because it was within 1,000 feet of a school.
