WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- A West Chester University student from Philadelphia is being held in county prison, unable to post bail after being charged with raping another student in a parking garage over the weekend.
Twenty-three-year-old Austin Eaddy faces several charges including rape by force and sexual assault.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim was walking back to West Chester University's campus. A man, who police say is Eaddy, approached her on the second floor of the New Street parking garage, and allegedly raped her on the hood of a car.
Chester County First Assistant District Attorney Michael Noone says another student heard the victim's screams, yelled at the man, who investigators say jumped from the parking garage and ran off.
"Obviously it's a very sad and difficult situation for the victim because she was assaulted, but the Good Samaritan did the right thing by going into the parking garage when she heard those screams and interrupting this before it became even worse."
Investigators say Eaddy was identified by his ID and by surveillance video. He turned himself with counsel, bail was set at $100,000.
A statement from West Chester University interim president Christopher Fiorentino says their hearts go out to the victim, and they're assured justice will be served.
