Will Melania Trump move to the White House?

Melania Trump, along with her 10-year-old son Barron, will be moving to the White House “right after [Barron] finishes school,” according to President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump told reporters gathered Sunday in Bedminster, New Jersey that the two members of the first family will make the move from Manhattan to Washington, D.C. “very soon.”

The 46-year-old Melania Trump and her husband expressed “sensitivity” about moving their son to the White House, according to Trump’s transition team. The concern was for Barron to remain at Trump Tower in Manhattan, where the youngest Trump can continue his education at an Upper West Side private school.

Such a move would be highly unusual for a modern first lady, though it’s not unheard of for some members of the first family to live away from the White House. For instance, Barbara and Jenna Bush, the fraternal twin daughters of President George W. Bush, were both in college at the time their father was president and lived away from home.

Spokesmen for Mr. Trump’s transition team said no formal statement has yet been released about the future first lady’s living situation. But according to Jason Miller, the the transition team’s communications director, there is “obvious sensitivity to pulling their ten-year old out of school in the middle of the year.”

Miller said to expect a more formal statement to come in the future.
