Florida gas prices increase 4 cents from week ago

TALLAHASSEE - Average gasoline prices in Florida increased last week by 4 cents.

The AAA auto club said Tuesday that Florida motorists paid an average of $3.12 a gallon for regular unleaded, a penny below the national average. The state average was up from $3.08 a week earlier, but down from $3.17 a month earlier. On year ago it was $3.29.

On Monday, the average price $3.14. a penny more the national average, topping the U.S. price for the first time since mid-July,

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in an online post that Sunday's national average price was the lowest since mid-January.

"We're primed to see average U.S. gas price fall below $3/gal in the next 7-12 days if this holds," De Haan posted on X. "It would be the first time since 2021."  

The most expensive gas price for unleaded was $4.89 on June 13, 202.

Monroe County had the highest price for unleaded gasoline in the state at $3.34 per gallon. Palm Beach County was at $3.28, Broward at $3.14 and Miami-Dade at $3.16.

The lowest price was $2.78 in Okaloosa County in the Panhandle where several counties have the cheapest gas.

The average price of diesel statewide is $3.48, up 4 cents in the past week, with the highest 5.72 on June 14, 2022.
