New video shows aftermath of Truckee plane crash that killed 2
TRUCKEE — A small plane crash in Truckee left two people dead on Saturday.
The crash happened in the area of Glenshire Drive and Olympic Boulevard. The plane was traveling from Colorado to the Truckee Tahoe Airport when it crashed.
It's unclear if there were any other people onboard the plane.
Exactly what led up to the crash is also unclear at this point. The crash scene was near the Olympic Heights subdivision of Truckee, just north of the Truckee-Tahoe Airport.
Both Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board officials began investigating the scene on Sunday.
New video obtained from viewer Jake Somervell on Monday shows the aftermath of the crash. Somervell said he was staying in the area and was able to feel the crash when it happened.
UpWest, an investment firm that funds and fast-tracks Israeli founders breaking into the American market, posted on Facebook that Liron and Naomi Petrushka were the two on board who died. The coroner's office later confirmed Liron and Naomi died in the crash.
The post said that the couple was integral in building up the company.
The Aviation Safety Network said preliminary investigations show that the plane missed its approach to the northeast-to-southwest runway at the Tahoe Truckee Airport.
The plane made a 180-degree turn over the airport, climbing in altitude in a go-around maneuver in an attempt to land, but instead, the plane made a left-hand stalling spiral and crashed
